The system is used for automatic optical inspection and sorting of compression springs.
The springs are supplied longitudinally from a vibratory bowl feeder and placed on a conveyor with transverse bars of a separating mechanism.
In this band conveyor, the springs are transverse to the transport direction.
In three inspection positions within the band range the cameras are mounted, looking at the springs side and frontal.
The band line operates in intermittent mode.
At the end of the belt path NOK parts are discharged.
Both OK and NOK parts are feeded in a separate container.

Technical data:

  • Windows XP-based image vision system running ZU-vision with application-specific image processing and workflow software on a 19 "Windows vision system
  • 5 FireWire cameras, one per test station
  • application-specific LED lighting for viewing the feathers
  • pneumatic separation and feed mechanism, pneumatic NOK lock
  • vibratory bowl feeder with loading hopper, noise protection hood, suppression station for contiguous springs, order elements and short linear rail
