Decorative trims for premium automobiles are increasingly equipped with customizable contour or ambient lighting. In addition, there is a wide range of decors (plastic, wood, metal, carbon or combinations thereof) from which the customer can choose.
All this has to be checked - especially whether the light distribution is uniform over the entire length of the run. No customer accepts irregularities such as hot spots or dark spots at this point. The concept of the testing equipment then depends on the customer`s production philosophy.
In the case presented here, the components are inserted manually into a self-sufficient and compact inspection cell. With several decentralized systems, a 100% inspection can thus be realized directly after final assembly. Another application is the inspection of random samples in the incoming goods department or the final inspection after rework.
The components are automatically contacted from below.
The inspection area is closed light-tight via a fast-opening gate to create a reproducable environment.
The high-resolution cameras (30 megapixels and more) inspect the light paths of the line lights and the surfaces. Despite the large field of view, the cameras achieve the resolutions of 0.1mm/pixel required by the vehicle manufacturer.
Fast changeover to other product types can be achieved via quick-change fixtures.
